Where are your visitors going to come from?

Your visitors can come from a great number of sources and new sources emerge every day. This feels like a web page that I will always be updating!

AS well as human visitors, your pages will also be read by bots or crawlers. These are automated tools owned and operated by search engines that index and analyze your web page sp that it can be presented in search results.

Search Engines

Search Engines are the first and greatest source of website traffic. You submit your site, the engines’ bots visit it and, hey presto!, soon enough you start getting visitors for free. That’s what I thought about 10 years ago when I first tried internet marketing. I did get into double figures; I could have fixed it but there were other flaws to my business model

Here’s some more about Google that you need to know…
There are a number of search engines out there but the lessons from Google are applicable to most of the others and, today, Google is ahead of them.

Why?

Because Google’ business is based around giving its customers the best possible search experience and results so they keep coming back. That’s how they overtook everybody else. To do this, Google looks carefully at the websites it returns in searches to make sure they are the most

  • Relevant
  • Informative
  • Different (i.e. not duplicate information)
  • That the whole site is a good experience for the searcher
  • Popular

The good news is, you can Improve your PageRank. 99% of website owners aren’t doing this – or are using out-of-date techniques that amount to the same thing. That gives you an instant competitive advantage. To find out more, Click here

Advertising for traffic

As well as using Search Engines, you can advertise for website traffic. Google Adwords is the best known service to do this – and it is increasingly using the same criteria for pricing ads as the Search Engine uses to determine where to place them in the results. Yahoo, Microsoft and a number of smaller players are also in this – and are playing catch-up. For more details, Click here.

Other traffic sources

After Search Engine and Advertising, there are a number of other sources of traffic. For more Click here
