Other traffic sources for your website
Other traffic sources – After search engines and advertising, how else can you get traffic to your website?
Your newsletter, E-zines and Blogs
Once you have your website created, you’ll want to continually update it. Hey presto! - you reuse that material to create an email newsletter aka an ezine and a weblog (blog). You’ll need some technical backup for this. For me, it comes as part of SBI!.
Then you can put links to your site into the newsletter.
Forums
A great way of finding answers and material for your site is to join and participate in forums. Post on them when you can – it’s your opportunity to advertise your site to qualified visitors for free. Different forums have different rules about how you can do this. Respect them – it’s in your best interest to keep posting and to keep the visitors coming
Email lists
Similar to forums, another great way of getting in front of qualified visitors for free is mailing lists such as those on Yahoo Groups. These are of highly variable quality and do take longer to evaluate. Some are full of spam. Some have a lot of relevant traffic but it is mostly superficial. Some have little traffic – but it is highly relevant and well thought out.
You can start your own discussion list – it’s a great way for getting ideas to improve your site
Articles
Another way to reuse material and get your traffic is to submit an article to free article websites. You do have to provide relevant and useful content; but you do get to put your link at the bottom; and it will be copied and reproduced in many places across the web
