Improving PageRank – What you need to do
What your website needs - content
Your website needs a crystal clear hierarchy and links; and needs to be easy to navigate.
You need to provide site map to help your visitors find what they want on your site. If your site map has more than 100 links, simplify it - break it out into a hierarchy to make it easier for your visitors to read. Even the hippest and most confusing sites have simple hierarchical site maps
Be sure that your website features relevant and informative content.
What your website needs – how the pages are created
Find keywords that are in demand from searchers and are not well serviced by web page publishers – and and organize your content around them
Use text to describe images – the bots can’t recognize text hidden inimages
Use descriptive and accurate TITLE and ALT tags
Test all links – and repeat periodically
What you need to avoid
Avoid telling your visitors what you want to tell them – at least up front. Rather, focus on giving your visitors great content and the answers to what they are searching on.
Don’t try and trick search bots with tricks, links, cloaking and other schemes that aim. to increase your site's ranking. Google and the other search engines is getting smarter about this by the day and they will severely penalize your PageRank. Get the ranking up through great content and improving backlinks
Don’t use hidden text or links.
Don’t stuff your pages with irrelevant words and content. Or relevant keywords in a list in a footer or similar.
Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with significantly duplicate content. Adapt and paraphrase material from affiliate programs – don’t duplicate it
