Good Pre-selling –
What do you have to do to Pre-sell well?

Pre-selling is editorial

Good Pre-selling is where you overdeliver to your visitors the content they are looking for. This should not be a sales pitch. It should not read like a sales pitch … but…

Where it is appropriate, you need include links to a sales page.

Include casual mentions and links

For example, you could build a Web site about around a particular set of products you represent in a market segment that interests you (e.g. health, cool stuff for mobile phones). In your site, you could casually mention that you used Site Build It! to build your site and include a link - that is Pre-selling.

Write reviews and recommendations

Or you could write a review about the several alternative solutions. You’ll need to provide a quality level of editorial content about each, not a hollow sales pitch.

Consider adding a feature-by-feature comparison table that shows how the solutions compare.

Knowing your products is a very key component of the PREselling process. If you don’t understand what each product delivers, you won’t be able to...

  • Transmit the benefits in technicolor.
  • Help your visitors understand the what and how
  • Find new target groups who would love the product.
Finally, you should provide an honest recommendation to your visitor that follows from the information you have presented. You don’t have to recommend just one product. It may well be that one product is better for some people but a different one is better for others. For example, many products are often offered in several versions with increasing levels of functionality for different purposes – just think of all the different models of computer offered by the company that made the one you’re using now. Some are better for gamers (who like powerful computers with great graphics cards), some for corporations (who value standardization on a model sufficiently powerful for most employees, networking capability, security features, and finance options), and some for small business (who are cost conscious)
